Stow Softball Team Loses Against Solon

The next games are scheduled for Saturday against Youngstown Cardinal Mooney and Kent.

The softball team lost a conference game at Solon as the Comets scored the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday.

Solon scored first as they plated a run in the bottom of the second inning to takean early 1-0 lead.

The Lady Bulldogs responded four runs in the third inning. Annette Fetter reached base on an error with JennivHeid going in as a courtesy runner for the Stow pitcher. Julie Rooney followed with a double to the right field corner with Heid hustling around the bases to score the first Stow run. After a Sarah Parson walk, Alex Shaver blasted a ball off the left center field fence for a triple to score both Rooney and Parsons. Stephanie Little singled to left field scoring Shaver as Stow took a 4-1 lead in the game.

Solon was able to tie the game at 4 runs for each team as they scored 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a walk and three straight hits. The game remained tied as both teams were unable to score any more runs through the top of the seventh inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Solon lead-off hitter sent a ball to deep left field for a triple. She scored on asingle to left for the game winning run sending the Lady Bulldogs to only their third defeat of the season against 10 wins.

For Stow at the plate, Julie Rooney was 3-for-4 with 2 singles and a double, 1 run and 1 RBI. Alex Shaver was 2-for-4, a single and a triple, scored a run and had 2 RBI. Annette Fetter suffered her second loss of the season for Stow as her record stands at 8-2.
Stow returns to action  April 30, hosting a game at 11 a.m. against Kent and a second game at 1 p.m. against Youngstown Cardinal Mooney.
