What's the Rotary's Summer Sunset Blast Golf Ball Drop, Anyway?

You'll want to find out, because you could win $1,000 at the annual Labor Day event Sept. 1, 2012.

Around 200 golf balls will come raining down from a crane at 8 p.m. Sept. 1 at the 2012  at . 

This is the third annual time the Rotary Club of Stow-Munroe Falls will drop numbered golf balls from a 100-foot crane. 

A grand prize of $1,000 will be awarded to the person who purchases the ticket with a matching number that lands closest to the target. Second and third prize winners will be awarded $500 and $250, respectively.

To win, "Blast"-goers will have to purchase one golf ball for $5 or five balls for $20.

Limited chances will be available for purchase the golf balls at the Rotary booth at the Summer Sunset Blast prior to the drop at 8 p.m.

The money raised from the event will support "critically important community service projects in the Stow-Munroe Falls area," according to a press release. 

"This project has been very successful the last two years and has allowed our club to continue its financial commitment to a number of community service projects," said Hanson, who is the chair of the golf ball drop committee. “We are thrilled to be part of the Summer Sunset Blast again this year and look forward to seeing everyone at the drop."
