Donate to a Local Troop in Afghanistan

Want to give back? There are some items that a local troop could use and the box is shipping out of Stow Aug. 26.

Drink mixes, flavored water, garlic tablets, ChapStick, flea collars ... all a 15 minute drive to the drug store and those items can be ours. It isn't as easy to get those items for the 1484th Transportation Company stationed in Afghanistan.

City employee Lois Camden's son-in-law, John, is part of the 171 in the 1484th unit — many of whom are from Stow or surrounding cities.

A project set up by Camden, a box is stationed in the lobby of for items that will be sent to the troop.

"Since my son-in-law is in that unit, and I had been asked by some city employees, if I was going to send anything to that unit, and they let me know that if a box was sent from here they would like to donate items," Camden said.

The troop left Fort Hood Texas at the end of July for Kandahar, Afghanistan.
